Cityscapes , Terrains, and Caricature Definitive First Day Covers

 The 1967 Centennial definitive stamp issue was phased out in three stages:
  • March 17, 1972 : $1.00 and $2.00 cityscape high value stamps
  • September 8, 1972 : 10 cent to 50 cent terrain medium value series
  • October 17, 1973 : 1 cent - 6 cents and 8 cent set of low value definitive stamps, the "Caricature" issue featuring former Canadian Prime Ministers as well as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The above sets are commonly known as the "Caricature and Landscape" definitives.

1. Cityscape High Value Definitives



Canada's cities were featured on the high value stamps issued on March 17, 1972. The historic and the new were represented by Quebec ($2.00) and Vancouver ($1.00), respectively.







 


 












2. Terrains  Medium Value Definitives

Canada's varied terrains were shown on the medium value definitive stamps issued on September 8, 1973.

Editorial cartoonist David Annesley's pen and ink line drawing character sketches were reproduced on the low value definitives issued on October 17, 1973.
