Publicity FDC Cachets 1967 - 1973
1. Centennial Cachet: 1967
During the 1967 Centennial year, C.P.O. used a special Centennial cachet featuring the stylized maple leaf Centennial symbol along with the Canadian coat of arms and two crossed Canadian flags.
2. Coat of Arms and Crossed Flags : 1968
The Coat of Arms and Crossed Flags cachet was introduced in late 1965 and used in 1966. Its use was suspended during the Centennial year but the cachet was re-introduced for stamps issued during the early months of 1968.
3. Maple Leaf Cachet : 1968 - 1971
In May 1968, the Coat of Arms and Crossed Flags cachet was replaced by the Maple Leaf cachet which featured a single red maple leaf. .
4. Maple Sapling Cachet : 1971 - 1972
A maple sapling cachet which was appropriately introduced for the first day of issue of the Maple in Spring stamp, April 14, 1971. The cachet was replaced in early 1972 by the Mosdossy cachet.
5. Mosdossy Map of Canada Cachet : 1972 -1973
A fifth type of Canada Post Office cachet, used in 1972 and 1973 for publicity mailings, was designed by Imre von Mosdossy and shows a map of Canada within which are images representing Canadian cultures, industry, and wildlife. The lettering and outline of the map are embossed in gold colour. Modossy's name is printed in smaller lettering at the bottom of the cachet. Two varieties were used for the publicity FDCs:
a) " First Day of Issue - Jour D'Emission" Printed on Cover
b) "First Day of Issue - Jour D'Emission" omitted
