Millennium 12 - Cirque du Soleil

 Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company whose shows blend music, theatre, dance, acrobatics, lighting, and exotic costumes. Founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberte and his fellow Quebec street performers to celebrate Quebec’s 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier’s discovery of Canada, Cirque du Soleil has become the largest theatrical producer in the world. A visit to Las Vegas is not complete without taking in one of the over half-dozen Cirque du Soleil shows in residence on the Vegas Strip.

Since 1984, over 100 million people have seen Cirque du Soleil performances. In 2014, Cirque du Soleil  is presenting nineteen shows around the world.

The Cirque du Soleil  was one of 68 Millennium stamps first issued in a hardbound book, Canada Post The Millennium Collection : Expressions of a People, on September 15, 1999. The stamps were printed two to a page.

2. Millennium Collection Souvenir Sheet

Canada Post Corporation re-issued the Millennium stamps in panes of 4 stamps issued over a three month period from December 17, 1999 to March 17, 2000. The souvenir sheet with the Cirque du Soleil stamp was released on December 17, 1999.
