The Blue Water Bridge
The Blue Water Bridge crosses the St. Clair River, connecting the communities of Point Edward/Sarnia, Ontario to Port Huron, Michigan. The initial 3-lane Blue Water Bridge construction was completed in 1938 with a main span across the St. Clair River of 875 feet.
Blue Water Bridge Construction
After dedication ceremonies on October 7th, 8th, and 9th, the Bridge was opened for regular traffic on October 10, 1938. Officiating at the dedication of the Bridge were Mitchell F. Hepburn, Premier of the Province of Ontario and Frank Murphy, Governor of the State of Michigan.
