Until 1964, Special Delivery (SD) service was limited for mail to the United States and the United Kingdom. In 1964, SD service was provided to Australia, West Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. SD service to France and other countries began on April 1, 1967.
There were two international special delivery fee periods in effect during the Centennial era:
1. To June 30, 1967
2. From July 1, 1967
1. To May 1, 1967
The special delivery fee was 25 cents in addition to postage.
2. From June 1, 1967
The special delivery fee was increased from 25 cents to 40 cents.
