1959 Battle of the Plains of Abraham

On 13 September 1759, British and French troops at Quebec City fought the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. The battle left control of Quebec City to the British which eventually allowed them to take control of Canada the following year. The Canadian Post Office issued a commemorative stamp designed by Emphrum Philip Weiss marking the 200th anniversary of the battle on September 10, 1959.
